I am excited about a new development on my blog! This week I will begin posting videos and drawings that are more focused on educating children. They will assist students with their homework and class projects. Initially, I am only going to open this service up to my high school students as a trial run. Then when I determine its usefulness I will extend it to lower schools.
I can remember some of the best cartoons from my childhood were ones that taught me something. Now that I am in positions of authority and influence as a teacher and developing cartoonist I can do the same for others. It really does my heart good to see how cartoons and art captivate a kid's attention. For a brief moment kids are totally vulnerable. I intend to take advantage of that vulnerability to help them become smarter students and more well rounded adults. Kids respect a teacher who is fun and smart and has a backbone. That is exactly who I am.
So, I guess the vision of my journey has become bit clearer. In the beginning I only saw myself gaining enough skill to make a cartoon that would entertain and inspire millions. Now I see how my skill can actually educate kids too. I'm cool with that! LOL!
This blog tracks my progress toward my goal of becoming a cartoonist. It has pictures, videos and text/discussion of my improvements. I hope it serves as an inspiration for anyone looking to take the same journey.
